Haryana Govt Increases DA: The Haryana government has announced an increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for government employees and pensioners drawing salaries and pensions under the 5th and 6th Pay Commissions, effective July 1, 2024. This decision follows a similar move by the Central Government on November 15.
Revised DA Rates
- 6th Pay Commission Beneficiaries:
- DA increased by 7%, from 239% to 246%.
- This applies to employees and pensioners still availing benefits under the Sixth Pay Commission.
- 5th Pay Commission Beneficiaries:
- DA increased by 12%, from 443% to 455%.
- Beneficiaries receiving salaries or pensions as per the Fifth Pay Commission will now see this adjustment.
- 7th Pay Commission Employees:
- DA for employees under the Seventh Pay Commission was previously raised from 50% to 53%, impacting around three lakh employees and 2.6 lakh pensioners.
Arrears Payment and Implementation
- The arrears for four months (July to October 2024) will be paid along with the January 2025 salary or pension.
- The revised DA will reflect in the November 2024 salary and pension payments disbursed in December.
Official Announcement
The directive was issued by Anurag Rastogi, Additional Chief Secretary of the Finance Department, following the Central Government’s lead in increasing DA for corresponding groups. This adjustment addresses inflationary pressures and ensures parity with national pay practices.
Context
Although the 7th Pay Commission has been implemented in Haryana, many employees and pensioners still draw benefits under earlier pay commission structures. This DA increase aims to align their compensation with inflation and provide economic relief.
The move is expected to benefit lakhs of employees and pensioners, reinforcing the state’s commitment to addressing the financial needs of its workforce and retirees.
